About me

I was born on the cusp of generations X and Y, with genetics representing Europe and Asia, though growing up across three continents instilled in me a lifelong flirtation with the US. I now live near Europe’s capital with a tuxedo cat named Simeon and my fiance The Ferret.

In December 2007, when I found myself caught between friendship and love, between career and ambition, I resolved to write this blog to stay in touch with friends across the world, to get myself writing again, and to get past the cynicism that had gotten hold of me.

I like key lime pie, travel, Starbucks’ double tall skinny vanilla latte, NYC, towering stilettos, enchiladas, movies with an ensemble cast, sour cocktails, well-written prose, critical debate and inspirational politics.

I don’t like kids in business class, muffin tops, cold rooms, smelly cheese, cutesy chain mail, bad copy editing, religious dogma encroaching on law or science, and Fox News which isn’t news.
