A few weeks ago, I took on Steadycat‘s challenge to submit a short story by the end of the month. Obviously, I missed that deadline, but I have two good reasons. One, I thought it was a leap year and had given myself another day – OK, that’s really not a good reason. Second, while many out there are suddenly without a job, I have been working two – not voluntarily, trust me. With work keeping me until 10 PM for most of the month, I have been in no mood to write.
But, I wanted to keep up my end of the bargain and started digging through old stories I always intended to finish, but never did. As I started perusing the graveyard of short stories in my files, I exhumed one that immediately made me break out in incredulous laughter. A story from 1998, about how the Ferret and I met and said goodbye. We had no idea back then that ten years later we’d be engaged.
Although it’s a very short story and I have honestly made little effort to edit it, I hope you enjoy it anyway.
